Replacing furnace
I have a 1988 Excella. I want to replace the furnace. It has a Suburban furnace in it, not sure of the model number, but when I was looking for a replacement several years ago, the Suburban model was no longer available. The newer models were too wide to fit where the old one did. Any suggestions?

you may need to make some changes to the AS body.. I just repaired my Atwood on my 1999 Excella yesterday and today. Replaced fan motor.. Cleaned stuff up. replaced some gaskets..
Man, this thing WORKS now!

The most important piece is if you can find a Suburban in which the external combustion air and exhaust are in the same position relative to each other, and not too low for the replacement furnace. The replacement furnace may be able to be raised so it pairs with the holes.

If the combustion chamber is still in good shape (not rusted through), you can probably rebuild most of the furnace. Like Channing, I just rebuilt mine last month and its working great. Found all the parts at PDX RV, and for about $150 completely rebuilt my furnace. They also sent a service manual for my furnace, with all the instructions. Took less than a day to do all the work. I think the Suburban furnaces are made to be removable so you can work on them on a workbench instead of hunched over the side of a RV.
If thats not an option, how about looking at an Atwood replacement? Maybe there models fit your existing cutout better?
Good luck!

The model number is inside the front cover.
I pickup one online (Amazon dealer), exact replacement, I didn't even need to change the electrical connector, or output ducting.
