Speaking from the experience of having installed a few window units as slide outs (not those specific units you mention), ducting and inline fans are required to make an underbench (or bed) a/c an effective cooling solution.
edit: also, I have seen people install a/c with the "body" inside the trailer, but if you don't get the part of the unit that generates *heat* physically outside of the trailer, then you are effectively just wasting electricity by heating and cooling the same space.
