Noisy A/C

I have a 1976 Argosy 24. It has the original Armstrong A/C unit installed. The unit puts out cold air, but it is very noisy (Vibration).

Is this normal? Any thoughts on how to correct if not?

Thanks

This has been talked to death. Almost all RV AC units make a lot of noise. I'm listening to mine right now. Yes, it's normal for a high noise level and no one likes it. The only thing worse is sitting in a hot trailer.

Ours even 'grovels' in the background when turned off. They are right above, just live with it and beat the heat.

Normal... I don't know but at least it's in tune with the buzz from the univolt.

Seriously ours cools well but it rumbles like a freight train.

I recently had a vibration problem fixed on the Dometic Penguin A/C on my 2010 traylah.

There was a copper refrigerant line rubbing against something. It was loud and buzzy.

Now that it's fixed, it's just loud.

I'm still running the original Dometic on my '73. Just had an A/C man look at it because it wasn't working. One capacitor later, a minimal $40 repair bill and it works great and will freeze you out of the tin can. And oh yes, when the compressor kicks on, it sounds like a freight train driving through. I asked the A/C man if anything could be done to quiet that down. The reply was "no".
