New Thermostat Missing Furnace Mode

I made a basic error, which I have of course discovered far from home on a cold night. I had the A/C and thermostat replaced on my 2007 Bambi 19 a few months ago. Since we were more concerned with A/C at the time, we failed to test the furnace, and the tech concentrated on A/C as well. Now, on a 25 degree night in New Mexico, we discovered that the Thermostat has no FURN mode !

To compound things, it is the holidays, so running down to the nearest shop is not an option. Here are my questions :

1. Is there a way to manually start the furnace when boondocking, bypassing the controls ?
2. Can I remedy this myself and add the mode ? Is this a dip switch setting or something else accessible?

Thanks

These "thermostat dip switches" search results may lead somewhere productive IMO:

This topic is above my pay grade, but the threads revealed there look helpful.

What brand and model is the stat? Does its manual include a "hard reboot" instruction?

Good luck!

After a bit more research, and removing the air filters, I discovered that I have an RJ11 that goes into an inline coupler, with nothing on the other side. There is a 2nd inline RJ11 coupler which is connected. Could this 2nd RJ11 be for the furnace ? Should there be a splitter there to connect both to the Thermostat?
