New kind of Furnace Problem
OK, so I've done a search and read about the furnaces that start, then stop again, sail switches and various other issues. Here's a new problem: We're on our first trip of the season and were awakened this morning by the furnace trying to light and not being able to do so. We had not set the furnace to run because it wasn't going to be cold out. I immediately checked the thermostat and it is set, as I thought, to OFF, both zones. Furnace wouldn't stop trying to light, so I pulled th fuse while I figure it out.
Anyone have an idea why the furnace would try to light when thermostat is set to OFF?
I op-tested both AC's as part of my de-winterizing process but forgot to check the furnace.

It seems the furnace is getting a ‘start’ signal. The malfunction is either in your thermostat or in the connection that runs from the AC to the furnace.
You will need to trace that signal back to see where the problem lies. There are some switches at the AC unit that need to be properly configured, but I’ve not heard of this causing false starts.

Was the thermostat set to heat pump? If it was the furnace is in “standby” mode. If the heat pump fails to satisfy the thermostat in a designated amount of time the furnace will step in. If you propane was empty or off the problem you experienced could occur and nothing be wrong.

Thanks!
T-stat is set to OFF, not heat pump. Yes, already checked gas and we have propane, WH and stove both work.

Thanks! I was hoping for something simple. If it's that involved, I'll have AS look at it. Although I have the ability to trace signals, I just don't have the inclination or time to do extensive troubleshooting for something that is still under warranty.

There is a way to reboot the thermostat. Probably worth a try.
