Need old Honeywell A/C thermostat
Greetings. I removed my old Honeywell thermostat earlier this year to access some cabinetry, and now I can't find it. I've searched high and low, and after spending about three hours on the web, I accept that they are no longer available. I can't find anything that even looks close to it.
Well, I did find a similar, but different model # "sub-base" but it doesn't have the cover.
It is for a 1973 Armstrong air conditioner, that was working perfectly.
I took photos of the thermostat when I removed it so I could hook it back up easily. It has three adjustments: fan high/low, cool or off, and temperature range.
Does anyone have an old thermostat they'd be willing to sell to me? Or could recommend a replacement?
Thanks in advance,
Funkee

I would think this White Rogers from Amazon would fit your purpose:

Thanks for trying....
I've spent like 4 hours searching the internet for something that will work. I think maybe a thermostat with option for heat could be used, just not utilizing that option.
My problem seems to be that I don't have a negative. One replacement thermostat mentions "if there is no negative 12 VDC supply at the thermostat, a negative wire from the power supply to the thermostat must be added". Not sure how to do this.
Green/G1 - I think this is fan low
Red/R - I think this is 12v
Black/G2 - I think this is fan high
Br/Y - I think this is cooling

Search for 'replace old thermostat' and see if the videos make sense for a swap/upgrade

You can use a T 87 thermostat with a q heat off cool sub-base. It is round but there is a conversion cover plate available.

Mr. Fun,
I’ve got a 73/74 Argosy that might have one hanging on the wall, will check tomorrow and let you know.
Enjoy,

Any old school analog AC/Heat thermostat should work. Here’s one from Grainger:
https://www.grainger.com/product/2E1...B&gclsrc=aw.ds
Honeywell Mfr # CT87N1001/E1 (available at Ace) will work.
You could also “upgrade” to digital, but you would need to replace the batteries, probably about once a year.
I went a bit overboard on mine. I added a 24 volt AC inverter and used a Honeywell WiFi, same as the one I use in my house. It is really convenient to be able to control the thermostat from my phone. The wiring for the WiFi thermostat is a bit tricky since it’s designed for use with a 24 volt conventional home system. I can post that if anyone is interested.
