I have problems with Dometic thermostats. Once you get down in the 70's as far as air temp the unit start cycling on and off and it really limits cooling because it is only running 25-50% of the time. It got so bad this weekend that I had to heat up the thermostat with a hair dryer. In the Airstream, I took a Coleman thermostat and installed it and no more short cycling problems when the temp gets below 80 degrees. Much of the problem is caused by air leaks that leak cold air onto the thermostat sensor. I have had this problem with two different Dometic units and one has the thermostat in the AC housing and the other has it close to the unit on the wall. It is like a purposeful design flaw.

Sounds like just the temp sensor needs to be relocated. I have never done this but it can't be that difficult. Can you just make it longer and put the temp sensor outside the unit, not inside?
I have similar issues with Fantastic-fan with its sensor inside the air flow. When on high speed it cools off so fast that it cycles too much. If the sensor were in the room and not in the air flow then I would get more consistent cooling (its just air, not chilled air). Like the AC it is the little copper thing

On the unit that is in the AC you can't move it very far away. It has a sense tube attached to the thermostat.

Good Sam purchased post problems? Will they honor that? I have not had luck with them before and dropped them.

How about this for a deal? Next day it is up to $400 but still a deal. I can buy a white shroud and still pay less than what I was planning. But I think I will spray paint silver first to see if I like the look.

Drip pan
Are you able to use the drip pan with the Mach 3? I've been wanting to replace my temperamental AC but was under the impression I would have to drain off the roof if I did.

I have drip cups. It requires a second level of a seal. They only worked so-so on the Penguin but I will use them again.

Why is there a metal tab in the opening of the blower air flow.

Looks different than my Mach 8 Plus. Just a wild guess that it could be a mount for an optional heat strip? Doesn't look like the heat strip mount on my Mach 8 Plus, but you should have seen the wonky way it was supposed to attach, so anything is possible.

It looks much taller but is only 3” taller than the low profile Penguin. I think because it is much shorter it give the appearance of being much taller. It is supposed to be much quieter. And for the price I can live with it.

Who wants it and how are going to get it?
8 yr old Penguin II 15K. When hot out the compressor appears to overdraw current and shut down. If in the low 90s it works. Had Easy Start but I removed it so some wiring will need to be redone. AC and inside ADB.
