Installing and Using a Window Unit

We are new to the Airstream community having recently purchased a 1987 34 foot Limited. It needs some (maybe a lot of) work and will not be going anywhere for a while. The original A/C does not function, but we need A/C here in Florida to be able to work in the trailer.
Putting a new rooftop unit is out of the question until we get everything else taken care of.
We have a window unit which we want to use so we can get to work. Any advice on putting one in???

Most common method is to open an appropriate window and remove the screen. Then most folks will make wooden pieces/boards to insert into the window frame channels which take up the space around the AC unit. Then another piece is made to go on top of the whole thing.

Most people fit the pieces together with dowel rods inserted into corresponding holes to hold everything together.

In our 13' Scotty trailer, I actually installed the AC unit on drawer glides that just slid out of the trailer once an access door was opened.
