Hi everybody, I'm a newbie here.
Just bought a '67 tradewind, and have been going through it.
having a couple issues installing the a/c:
I bought a used dual-temp unit because I had read online that opening sizes were universal. after drilling out the rivets on the front fan opening, scraping off all that tar-like adhesive, and lifting the unit up there, I was horrified to discover that the AC opening ( facing down, towards the trailer) was probably a good 2 inches wider than the opening of the trailer up towards the unit.
Also, the curvature of the airstream makes the AC unit look like it's precariously balanced up there, like a square on a circle- I don't know if this will be resolved once it's bolted on, or if the shroud will help- but right now, it just looks..... wrong.
So I'd love your advice as to if I need some kind of adapter mount, should I buy a new unit ( or just put the fan back in!
) - and then has anybody had to cut a larger opening to accomodate an A/C unit? I would really prefer not to...I'll post pictures later today. Thanks for your help!
