I just replaced an ac in our 2015 FC25 myself. The fan was still good but the refrigerant had leaked. This is our third ac in 5 years. The first one was replaced under warranty.
I am with Trav on this one, if I had just the fan go out on me, there is no way I would choose to spend $1500+ to replace the whole unit and not just replace a fan. It's wasteful in terms of money and creates more garbage unnecessarily. A local person was able to use my old fan and get his ac to continue working.
If the compressor goes out, or the refrigerant leaks, sure, you replace the whole unit, but the fan or some replaceable component goes out, replace just the part and continue using the unit.
To those who have older air-conditioners which have lasted ~20 years, hang on to them, they don't make them like that anymore.

Roof top AC

I have two Domestic Penguin units that were installed at the factory in 1997. Both running just like new, just clean the filters and caulk around them yearly to make sure no leaks occur.

Sorry to hear the new units are not as reliable.

May be to late to tell you but if motor runs but just starts slow it is probably the capacitor. That is a cheap and easy fix.
