Help: How to remove interior cover Dometic AC unit in 2014 Int'l 23 ft

Hi all,
We're on the road and getting water into the airstream from the AC. This is the first time we've had this - we are traveling over some VERY rough roads and it's been raining pretty hard so we aren't sure where the problem is coming from. We've checked the forum - our outside drain tube seems to be working fine - isn't clogged. Want to remove the interior cover to poke around but can't figure out how to do that. Of course we don't have that manual with us

If any of you could either describe how to remove that (we've taken out four screws but still seems not to remove easily and we don't want to break) or tell us the model of our A/C unit so I could get the manual from Dometic online that would help. We've looked at the Airstream parts manual online but those parts don't seem to match anything Dometic has for manuals dang it.

Here's a photo of what we are trying to remove

There are about 8 screws that go in from the bottom. A couple of them are inside the wings you have folded out, several are in the multitude of holes you see. Don't force it, it falls off hen you get the last screw

Hi

Also be aware that if something *has* come loose in the main mounting, there likely will be a bit more falling down than just the cover. Go slow, those little bits are the ones you don't want to loose. They need to go back where they belong.

Thanks Sherrif1 and Uncle Bob
We got the cover off - we couldn't get access to the drain tubes though because of this gray plastic cover - Jim (that's him in the attached photo) thought it should slide off but he couldn't get it off. He did see extra water in the tubes though. For tonight he quit working on it because he doesn't want to break anything. If you all have any experience with issues with water collecting in these tubes let us know. Otherwise we'll just catch the water for now and go get service when we get home.

I have an older version of the same AC units. Mine do not have the internal drain lines, it simply runs off roof and into the gutters. In Florida last year it start leaking inside and I found wet spots on the bed and front area carpet. Opened up both and found a washcloth folded neatly in the rear unit that was soaked. Replaced it with dry clean rag and placed one in front unit same way. Both stopped leaking. It was caused by huge amount of condensation.

It was a cheap fix and worked. Hope you can get the covers off your AC to poke around inside. Now whenever I change/clean filters, also replaced the rags.

Check and, if necessary, clean your filters.

There are 2 screws in each side of the intake with the little holes for a total of 4 screws.
There is a screw at each end - front and back - under the directional vents for a total of 6 screws.
There is a screw on each side under the side vents for a total of 8 screws. The side vents have to be popped out to access the screws.

Hi

Never rule out Spider Man or one of his pals deciding to make a drain tube his new home. Sometimes a blast of compressed air up the tube from the bottom will convince him to move elsewhere. You do need to be a bit careful and make sure your compressor regulator is not set to 250 lb Anything over 20 lb is to much. In some cases getting to the bottom of the tube is as much of a PIA as working on the top of the setup.

If you can get to the top of the drain tube blow or flush it out. If you flush or snake from below you are probably just rearranging the debris.

Found all the screws now we cannot seem to get water tray out.
Question how did you slide the water tray cover out?

6 screws

There are exactly 6 screws to remove this cover and their positions are shown in the picture, marked by tape. Hint: remove the filters first, before taking the cover off.

Removing Dometic AC Interior cover

I am having condensation drain on roof of 2018 Airstream Interstate GT. I attempted to remove the Dometic AC's interior cover and found all 6 as per Valleyview's picture. But the cover seems to be attached just aft of the two side vents as described in carol1farr and .honey posts. Looking inside the side vents I do not see any screws. How do these side vents pop out?

Also where does the drain tube exit the Airstream. I thought I found the exit behind the right rear tires. But when I tried to snake it with stiff plastic weed eater line I got about five inches and ran into something very solid and plastic sounding. I think I have found a low point drain for the fresh water system instead. Can someone please tell me where he AC tube exits?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to remove the gray panel shown in carol1farr's second picture? I'm trying to troubleshoot my AC/Furnace (doesn't seem to have any power to it), and don't want to break the panel getting it off.

There are three loooonnnnggggg bolts holding that grey panel on. Those bolts also hold the air conditioner on the roof. Take out the bolts and the grey part comes down.

That smaller panel in the center of the grey part, which looks like it should come off by itself? It doesn’t. Take out the three bolts and remove the whole thing.

Actually, the small grey square can be removed. It pop/slides up and in. Do it carefully and it will work.
I had to do this in my 2014 25' FC when I had trouble with the a/c temp lead sitting in the drip pan - another fun story.

So if I'm understanding this right, you pull it down a bit on the right side (your second picture), and then slide it left to right to remove it?

Dan, you are correct. I had mine out for the same reason as az-streamer. Jim
