Heater blows cold air

Hello
My heater blows hott air on one side and cold comes out on the other side..Any suggestions? I appreciate it.

I'd recommend giving a little more information. Are you talking about the furnace on your Airstream? And when you say one side vs. the other side, do you mean a different temperature is felt coming out one duct vs. a duct further away?

More info is needed for instance do you have to AC and more then one zone. If so is one zone set one way and the other set to cold?

If your trailer is cold, there are a couple ways to warm it up:

1) Turn on one of the A/C units in "heat pump" mode and let it heat the whole trailer. If you are at a 30A site, this is not an unusual thing to do.

2) Turn on both A/C units in heat pump mode and heat up the trailer quicker.

3) Turn on the furnace and let it do the job on electric.

4) Turn on the furnace and engage the propane to heat even faster.

5) Combine the furnace with the heat pump mode on the A/C.

We have ducted air in our Classic. If we run one A/C in heat pump mode, it's not unusual for the "close" vents to be warmer than the "far" vents when we do that. This is very specific to ducted air ....

So lot of combinations and permutations. Thus the confusion about just what's being asked about.

Can you explain how option #3 works? Is this the AS heater?

Hey guys sorry yeah I have 2 zones and when I run heat in my bedroom the ac blows in the front I've been messing with my thermostat without any luck.

long shot but try a hard boot on the thermostat. instructions should be in the manual.

a quirk of my 1 zone ccc2 is that if change the fan setting on the stat to low from auto, then turn it off without returning fan to auto, when i turn it back on (furnace heat) the AC blows cold, no furnace firing. hard boot...furnace on...click click, harumph...heat from the furnace...no roof top AC and back in business.

I had this issue once. I “think” My problem was that my fan was not set to “auto” with the heat pump on. I think there is an issue in the heat pump mode where both fans need to be in auto mode. Check your manual for instructions.

As an aside, this occurred because I had been experimenting with the air conditioner at home pre-trip. I had set my front Unit to A/C and my rear to “fan”. Since both zones use the same ductwork, I could get some cool air in the rear zone with it just using the fan. This is an option when you only have 30 amp service that can only power 1 A/C compressor. I had forgotten to reset my rear zone from fan to auto. Until I reset it to auto the heat pump just stayed in fan mode and blew out cold air since it was cold outside.

Option 3 ( run the furnace on electric) is an option on our 30' Classic AS trailer. The "furnace" is an Aide hydronic heater. There is a similar device ( hydronic heater ) in our van, just not from Alde.

On both of them, you can run the system on electric. The obvious advantage is that you don't burn fuel heating things if you have shore power. The gotcha is that there's only so much electric available. There is more power available from the burner ( propane in the Classic, diesel in the van) than from the electric heating element.

Yes, "max power" would be running both the burner and the electric. The controls are smart enough to only kick in the burner when it's cold enough that the electric can't keep up.
