Gas valve in 1976 Argosy furnace

Does anyone know where I can pick up the electric gas valve for the furnace in a 1976 Argosy MH? I had my furnace on this weekend to help keep me warm while I was working on it. The unit turned off for about 15 minutes because it reached temp, however, when it turned back on there was a VERY loud pop. This was due to the heat exchanger filling up with gas because of a small leak in that valve. It ended up blowing out a deal around the ignitor (not a huge deal) so that will also need to be replaced.

Is this some sort of a genereic valve? Or is it something specific to this furnace?

Matt,

We're going to need more info than you provided. What brand/model of furnace do you have? I know some Argosies have Suburban (that's what was in mine) and some have a different brand which I can't remember the name off the top of my head.

I would imagine the valve is available, you just need to track down the part number and then do your typical google search!

Good luck,

Brad

I would recommend furnace replacement. Your furnace is 38 years old now. Parts are hard to come by, if not impossible. Assuming you have a Suburban furnace, there was an extensive recall done on them, and yet many were never repaired properly, and Suburban no longer supports any parts from the recall or any other parts for their old pilot light furnaces.

The furnace is a safety item. Proper operation while you sleep is important, and even while awake leaking carbon monoxide from rusted combustion chambers is a serious issue.

Time for a new furnace. You wouldn't keep a 38 year old furnace in your house, why do it in your camper. Carbon monoxide and an explosion come to mind, take the safe way out. Get a new one.

My 1977 Argosy MH had the original Sol-aire furnace. I had it replaced with an Atwood Hydro-flame furnace. Here are the pictures.
