Exterior Furnace Cover Nylon Spacers
Was replacing the aluminum exterior furnace compartment cover/sheet due to some filiform corrosion that had developed in the area of the furnace exhaust port. While separating the aluminum (exterior cover) from the plastic (interior cover) one of the spacers went flying. These spaces are circled in the attached picture.
Naturally I cannot find these nylon spacers in the 2021 Flying Cloud parts manual. The entire part is called "The Cosmetic Bezel Furnace Medium" with a part number of 690747-01. The local Ace Hardware and Lowes were not any assistance. OD is 5/16", approximately 8mm and it is 3/16", approximately 4mm thick. Not worried about the hole size because I can drill that.
I did locate some 1" double sided, foam lined Gorilla tape. That was holding the 2 pieces together.
Any prior experience or suggestions with this?

You can make one by drilling and cutting to length a section of a hot glue stick. I'm surprised the hardware store didn't have nylon bushings in the specialty fastener section.

John,
I have a few of those and I fear they might compress over time. I contacted the mother ship to see if they could get me the part. I do not want to purchase the entire assembly. Have been looking on Amazon, but am trying to avoid buying 1,000 of them

If you know someone with a 3D printer they could make you some out of PETG.

Simple to make with a small metal lathe. Perhaps the OP has somebody nearby who could do that.

Tim, we do have a diesel machine shop just down the road. If all else fails I will give that a try. I did find something close, on Amazon, last night. The minimum order was only 10.

I would look for some suitable plastic tubing and cut the spacers. Might even find some plastic /nylon washers that will do the job

Thanks for the suggestion. It has to be very rigid and non-compressible because you do not want any movement between the outer aluminum sheet and the inner plastic cover. There is some tubing that should work, but it would have to have some serious wall thickness.
This is a picture of the inside, plastic piece. This is the view that faces the furnace blower motor.
Here is a view, outward facing, of both pieces after they are separated.

It sounds as if you local ACE hardware person is not a true “Ace” and doesn’t know standard hardware found at any ACE store I’ve ever been. I’ve bought those for many different projects (the last one to increase the false-panel distance on a Cessna Instrument Panel.)
Those are common nylon spacers found and most ACE and True Value hardware stores. They are found in “Jandorf” boxes (trays) and are in many different sizes and lengths.

Final Followup
I reached out to Airstream regarding the part numbers for the nylon inserts. Airstream contacted the factory that manufactures this part, and they do not put the inserts in. Your guess as to how they got installed. Bottom line, you do not need nylon inserts. I am not taking it apart.
