Duo-Therm A/C on my Avion.

Much to my suprise when I turned on the original A/C unit on my 1968 Avion, it worked and blew COLD air. My question is, did these old units use the same R-12 freon that was used in the cars???

Most RV Airconditioners use the same stuff as a home one. I think that would be R22. The service ports, if there are any would allow for only the correct type of gauges to be attached. Now for the silly question. If it blows cold, why worry about the type of freon that makes it do so?

Because it might need a charge in the future and I have a bunch of R-12 that I was going to get rid of. If it used R-12, I would save it

You have a small gold mine on your hands. Some AC shops charge 50 bucks a LB for the stuff, so check around you might be suprised at the potential windfall!!
