Dometic Thermostat Issue

I'm having an issue with the thermostat on my 2015 27FB International Serenity. It has two zones. When switched to zone 2, the thermostat is reading 2-5 degrees lower than the actual temperature in the area that zone 2 cools. I have verified the temperature with 2 different room thermometers sitting on the dinette table. The thermometer for zone 1 reads exactly as the room thermometers that I have placed on the bed. As a result, the air conditioner always cycles off before it reaching the actual temperature of the zone two area. Often the thermometer on the thermostat will ready exactly the same as the zone 1 thermometer. I have reset the thermostat numerous times per Dometic procedures. Does anyone of a suggestion as to what I can do determine the problem? Thanks!

Good question, and probably a common issue. I'm assuming you have the Dometic CCC2 LCD thermostat. I also have the issue with thermostat being several degrees apart. The reason is that there are 2 sensors, one is in the actual thermostat, the other is on a wall behind a quarter-sized slotted black plastic cover. On my 2018 25 FBT, the second sensor is near the fridge behind the TV. It picks up heat from the fridge so it's always a couple degrees higher. I just set the temperatures separately in the 2 zones so they turn on and off at roughly the same time. Furnace just uses the one sensor, so I just adjust it to actual comfort.

I looked up the service manual out of curiosity, there's no calibration mode or any way to compensate for the temperature difference.

If just setting zone 1 and 2 to different temps doesn't work for you, I guess you could investigate physically moving the zone 2 sensor or coming up with a way to thermally isolate it.

Thanks, Starlite, Now that you mention it I do remember an RV service guy years ago telling me how Airstream was bad about where they placed the sensors. But, if the second sensor for zone 2 was actually reading warmer than the actual temperature, wouldn't that cause the AC to run ever longer since it hadn't yet reached the temperature indicated by that sensor?
