Dometic on the blitz

Was at the beach and the AC compressor stopping kicking on last night. Unit would come on but the compressor would not run. I called the local RV repair service and they sent a dometic repairman out - capacitors okay, board okay (tried a new board), thermostat okay. The tech told me he could manually cause the compressor kick on but the control system would not function properly.

He called one of his work colleagues who claimed he saw the same issue last week and he had called the Dometic experts and was told it was the compressor failing. Long story short, he could not speak with Dometic on Sunday and gave up. He offered to give it another go tomorrow but I too gave up and towed the trailer the 2.5 hour trip home. Far too hot to deal with a stay on gulf coast without AC!

Guessing I will haul it in the Airstream dealer about 70 miles from here and let them have a shot. BTW, the unit is a 15k Dometic heat pump on a 2010 28' flying cloud.

So capacitors, control board and thermostat are all okay. Any ideas or input would be appreciated.

Running again -

Took it to the Foley RV in Gulfport.

Reversed wire on the board! They had it repaired in less than 30 minutes.

The guy in Florida worked for three hours and simply managed to mess it up. He must have left the new board in it but reversed two wires?? Who knows, ruined trip, and lots of extra work but got it going again.

Moral of the story, check for loose connections first.

Yeah, they "serviced" it okay! Poor guy couldn't even just replace parts and not mess it up!

The Airstream dealer had it fixed in 30 minutes.
