Dometic AC/Heatpump Manual vs. Thermostat

There’s the question:

Dometic AC/Heatpump, Manual vs. Thermostat?

Seems I’ve read many threads about thermostat problems, needing reset, replaced, thermostats moved, etc… Currently my 1996 34’ has the “4 button” CCC systems, which are now outdated, etc.. Thinking of going back with just a standard old manual system.

What’s the pros/cons if you’re not a lazy person that minds getting up and turning it on/off?

Use the CCC system till it dies and have a backup plan for when it does. Know where your thermostat wires are located. I have a much older trailer and put in a modern digital thermostat for the furnace and with some work it could also control the AC. I also have an AUX resistance heater in the AC that takes care of 99% of my heating needs. That heat strip uses a base board heater thermostat. Dometic was too cheap to have a dual mode thermostat like the old Coleman units had.
