Domestic, Duo-Therm AC coils Froze

I have a 1992 29' Excella. I believe the Duo-Therm is OEM. This morning I noticed it was not blowing airk from the front fins and very little from the back. It also seemed to not be cooling. By noon I could tell the AC was not working, just the fan, short of. Getting up on the roof, pulling the cowl and opening the cooling compartment topside I discovered the cooling coils were pretty much a block of ice. Ideas on what caused this? I defrosted the coils with a hair dryer and cleaned a lot of gunk from the intake side of the coils. I hope this takes care of the problem, but I'm looking for answers.
