Carrier AC help please

Just installed a new 13,500 Carrier standard AC. It is leaking water onto the floor from excessive condensation. It is pooling on the top of the inside unit, and being blown out by the fan. Anyone have any suggestions?

Did this unit come with a drain line attachment?

It just so happens that I decided to buy a Carrier because it was one that could be hooked up to the drain hose readily. Guess I didn't do enough research because the standard height model is the only one that can't be hooked onto the hose. It is draining heavily out onto the roof, but is still leaking on the inside.

That unit should have the 'slinger wheel' that is supposed to blow the condensate back across the condenser to help cool it and to get rid of the liquid.

Remove the shroud and be sure that the channels are not blocked and that the drain (if you have one) is properly connected to the drain hose. You should not be getting any liquid inside the trailer.

Also be sure that your bolts are tightened so that the A/C gasket has been compressed by 50% to properly seal to the roof.

Killer weather here today 100 degrees and 100 % humidity. Maybe it's just too much to drain away.

If the water drains out both sides of the unit, you might be able to modify it to accept the Dometic auxiliary drain kit, part # 3107688.016.

These kits are used on just about every Duotherm installation that requires the use of an internal drain hose like Airstreams and most other quality RVs have.

The kit consists of 2 catch cups that are attached directly beneath the drains. These cups have molded-in nipples which connect to the supplied tubing. The water drains from the tubing via a 'T' fitting that connects to the interior drain hose. An extra gasket is also included to raise the unit slightly to provide clearance for the drain cups.

That's the full drain pan.

This drip kit had 2 small molded plastic cups with flat bottoms that screw into the base pan of the unit directly below the drain holes. They are maybe 2-1/2" X 3-1/2" and 3/4" deep. Comes with the extra gasket and required hoses and fittings.

Thanks everyone for your help. Guess I will get the auxilliary drain kit and give it a try. I'm still not sure that will correct my problem of water leaking on the floor though, but I would prefer draining through the hose.

I have tried to get a drian kits to work with one of those Carriers but it won't work. The Carrier will channel the water to the middle to be directed to the fan so it could be sprayed out the back. ( that thing has to be perfectly level which may be where the water is coming from ) The Briskair pulls the water over to the side.

I know for a fact. your going to want to take that AC back if you can. Been here, done this.

Don't mean to sound stupid, but make sure there are no holes under the A/C unit. Like missing rivets. SOB dealer put mine on and didn't fill them in.
