Capacitor question

I have not been able to find a capacitor that is like the one on my unit. I asked an air conditioner guy and he said that the new capacitors have 3 prongs instead of 2. Has anyone replaced a 2 prong with a 3 prong?

What is the value/voltage of your capacitor?

On the replacement parts list it is 370volt 30mfd, the new one with 3 'prongs' is 370volt 35+5mfd. I'm trying to help my husband decide if he use the new one!

I replaced capacitors in the 12 volt converter/charger in my 78 silver streak recently. A I found an exact replacement capacitor at tedss.com. They have about every capacitor made and they ship quickly.

Those caps w/ three prongs are just two caps in one w/ a common ground. If one is close to the right size (in microfarads), it will work. Just use the right prongs - they will be labeled.

Typical tolerances on capacitors are quite loose; 35 vs 30 isn't a lot of difference here.

If you have the old one, you probably can match it up here. Capacitors

They do have 2 pronged ones.
