Best replacement for '63 Trade Wind International furnace
My 1963 Trade Wind has the original International furnace, and although it "looks" to be in good shape I have been advised to replace it.
What is the best and easiest replacement furnace to buy?
Can I keep the exterior furnace shroud from the International furnace? If not, what is the best way to replace without making the exterior too modified?
The Suburban line of NT furnaces should be a good choice. The large opening on the exterior will have to be patched, but will not be too noticable. Most vintage AS trailers have had a modification or two. If a mod doesn't show, it may have had a panel replacement to hide the retro fit. The interior ductwork may have to be modified as well. I had a local sheet metal shop adapt the ductwork when I replaced the furnace in my '65 Safari.
A Wave catalitic heater is probably your best bet. Simple mount on wall, gas hook-up.
