You still CAN use 30 amp service, just shut one A/C off. I went back and forth also. I finally decided that living in Florida, I'd rather have the second unit even if I don't use it all the time than not have it and wish I did.
To me the biggest negative of the 50 amp service is giving up the brilliant front mounted 30 amp receptacle designed for easy access to a generator.
However, keep in mind the change from 30 amp to 50 amp is not just 20 amps. 30 amp service is one 30 amp 125v. service or 3750 watts. 50 amp service is two 50 amp 125v legs or 12,500 watts!

BTW, if you learn to "over/under" your 50 amp cable it's much more manageable. In my former MH, I coiled it right into the bay. No lifting, no tangles. However, with the AS and the generator I've purchased the same blue cable mentioned above. (Post #16) It can run to the generator or a 30 amp power post.

We have a 26 you with two air-conditioners and according to the dealer service this week as we did our first trip out, if you aren't 30 a.m. the system is supposed to cycle between both air-conditioners back-and-forth so that it maintains the complete coach but doesn't have one and conditioner on at the same time

I haven't gotten mine yet, but that's the first I've heard that.
Now that Airstream is ducted, the cold air from either A/C will get to both areas, admittedly more in the zone selected.

My MH was ducted and I'd set the two thermostats a few degrees different. That way they didn't both cycle on and off together.

Think we solved our issue

The issue we had was that the temperature sensor in the rear bedroom was reading far too warm compared to the actual temperature.

Decided to look into it myself and it is a little temperature sensor on a single wire that has been wired to a single wire coming out of the cabinet and then when heat shrunken

The little heat sensor about the size of a match it, was on the side pointing to the window so I moved it all on the side pointing outside into the room and it appears that that may have solved the problem as it is working just fine now I will see when it gets hotter tomorrow.

He would think of the price of these coaches all they had was a single wire with In a not tied in the wire to keep it from pulling itself back through into the cabinet and at the end of that wire was the temperature sensor.

Rewired the temperature sensor position placed it on the opposite side towards the Room

My 28' has one AC. I rarely use it in the Pacific Northwest. But of course it died on a trip to Arizona in June. I sure wished I had a second (spare) AC.

I am confused with those that can only use their A/C, not both their microwave or hairdryer and A/C at the same time. We have done so in our 1989 Excella, upgraded to a Coleman Mach 15k and have had no issues with tripped CBs using multiple appliances. Unless you try to start everything at the same time maybe. I think two A/Vs would be nice, but two fan-tastic vent/fans work well. We also painted our roof panels with white aluminum paint, much like the newer AS models. Seems to stay cool enough...

Hi

The newer AS models have ducting to move the air around the trailer. When on 30A shore power, they do not cycle between the two AC's. You pick one or the other and run with that.

The gotcha with tripping breakers on 30A is that you often don't know what gizmo is pulling power when. The battery charger / converter may or may not be pulling 7 amps. The microwave may our may not be pulling 15A. The AC might be starting up at 20A or so. Who knows what little stuff like the TV is doing (2A maybe). That doesn't include random "odd stuff" you might have plugged in.

Doing a 30A cord on a 50A trailer side connector *is* a good way to address the "monster cable" issue. You *could* also do the same thing with a 50A connector on a 15 or 20A cord for "home" hookups. That's a lot of custom cords to haul around ....
