Airstream Bambi AC

Is there a quieter fan that could be installed on the dometic ac in the Bambi 22FB? Ours sounds like a jet engine no matter what speed it is on and whether the compressor has cycled on or off. Very difficult to hold conversation! I thought there might be a quieter version??!

Ours is loud as well

Hi, we also have a 2022 Bambi FB. I don't have a solution for you, but I can tell you that our air conditioner was *very loud* until it stopped working after being used 5 times. Now we are camping in 100 deg heat with no air. Thanks Airstream!

MrsHuskyHog,
You are not alone in your issues with the unducted A/C in the Bambi. It was a major factor in our decision to upgrade to the Flying Cloud.
I googled the topic of RV air conditioner noise reduction and found one company that offers a quieter A/C that is a direct replacement, so there is a company out there that recognizes the need. (Please do your own checking - I don't want to appear to endorse something I have no experience with.)
This topic received extensive coverage about two years ago. No one on the forum had a straightforward solution, other than to buy a Caravel to start with. Sorry I don't have more to offer.

The A/C in my 2018 22' Sport was also made by Pratt & Whitney. One of the reasons I too traded it in on a Flying Cloud.

Not that I know of. To meet rated capability, the A/C fan has to blow that amount of air past the cooling system. It is a consequence of the location of the A/C directly above your head without any intermediate sound absorbing ducting.

I feel for you. We had an unducted A/C unit in our 2009 SOB Sprinter travel van. The fan noise was accompanied by the vibration from the gennie -- located just beneath the bed. Something they don't tell you about.

Ducted air conditioning is one of those underappreciated features the Caravel has over the Bambi models.
