Air Conditioner opinions?

My AC is getting weak. I've had the coleman low profile and the coleman standard profile so far.

Just wondering what you guys may know on the latest brands, quality, life of units, etc...

The Furrion Chill Cube sounds pretty good, I don't know anyone with first hand experience though, also haven't found anywhere selling it yet.

Houghton is a brand several on Airforums have used.

That Furrion looks very interesting. The only thing that bothers me is the distribution "box" air only exits on one end. A lot of our (single A/C trailers) A/Cs are mounted in the center(ish) of the trailer. I could see a very uneven cooling distribution.

Yeah, I know what you mean. With the low power draw and how quiet it is suppose to be, needing to have a fan going to even temps out, it could be worth it. Plus the lower power settings for use on a limited power source.

Maybe they will come out with a model that doesn't have that feature.

The one thing that I am always interested in is how the units deal with the condensate. Some just let it drip onto the roof of the coach. As far as I can tell the Houghton brand does this. The Coleman mach 8 has an option for a pump to get rid of the water which seems like a round about way to deal with the problem. Also some units run the interior fan continuously which can cause a high humidity problem.

OP:
My airstream originally had the Mach8 low profile.
The condensate was routed through what looked like vinyl tubes probably inside the walls and you could see them sticking out under the trailer... and dripping.

The next AC installer ignored them and now my condensate drips on the roof.

The AC tech was just here. He found oil up there which means a line blew. He said the leak was in one of the coils so diffiuclt to repair.

This thing was only 4 years old.

I was hoping for some info on a more durable unit/brand but I have not seen this so I guess I just buy the same thing again.

I also see the Gree unit discussed in multiple threads as a potential replacement AC / heat pump. People seem to like the built-in soft start and quietness of the unit. I don't have one of these, but it's on our list for consideration.
