Air Condition compressor does not start

We were camping last weekend and had a problem with our air-conditioning. We turned on the air to low, cool, but the compressor did not start. We let it run for a couple hours and the compressor had never started. Check the drain line, no water coming out the drain line.

Try a couple of times, through the breaker to see if that would help, but still no compressor, fan worked fine.

Next morning, I tried it again and the compressor came on first time.

Temperature was about 80° but humidity was about 85%. Thinking the compressor possibly froze up.

Anybody else have this problem or have any ideas? What may have caused it?

There are several possibilities; low on Freon is one. If your unit is a 2023, it should still be covered by Airstream. I’d start with the dealer or make an appointment with JC. Either way, it should be under warranty.

Good luck!

Try running it with the fan in auto.

There are several YouTube videos on how to check RV AC. This one was pretty helpful. It helped me rule out the compressor and thermistor. There are many other videos that could be helpful.

Yours is under warranty so I would probably take it back to the dealer before removing the lid, insulation, and shroud. Really don't want to void the warranty.

We've had ours freeze up, but it was only after trying to cool it rapidly when it was very hot and humid.
