AC Thermostat control question

So I'm planning on switching out my old 1972 armstrong ac to the Dometic Low Profile Penguin 2, the Armstrong used a wall mounted thermostat to turn it on and off, can I use the same thermostat or replace with a modern one to control my new ac and bypass the controls on the actual unit. The new ac also has the heat strip. Thanks. Dan

The Dometic website has the installation manuals you can download. the manual describes how to wire a traditional 5 wire thermostat or if you can fish some phone cord through, you can upgrade to the CCC2 controller. The manual details what features you can use with either approach.
