AC icing up
Extremely humid in FL right now. The AC has been running in the daytime every day for a couple of weeks. It’s always shut off at night. This afternoon the interior AC vents started icing up and the ceiling fogged over. What would cause this? We shut it off. We’re still here for two more weeks so need to address it. Any suggestions?

Potentially restricted airflow over the coils. I would check / clean your filters which are mounted in the ceiling, 2 per AC unit.

You could come to Michigan where we have snow today. No AC needed.
Seriously though, it does sound like maybe restricted air flow. Have you tried setting the fan to high?

+1^^^^^
Clogged/dirty filters in our unit have caused the coils to freeze. Hard to imagine but low air flow can cause this. As oldenavy mentioned, running the fan on high also seems to help.

First off, washable filters do not always show the dirt they have captured so don’t rely on a visual inspection to determine if they need cleaning. Besides, if you go to the trouble to remove the grilles, you might as well go ahead and wash the filters and the grilles.
At a minimum, cleaning your return air filters should be done monthly during the a/c running months if you full time. If there is lint on the wires above the return air opening when you remove the filters, clean off the wires and increase your filter cleaning frequency.
While we are talking a/c maintenance, if you store your Airstream, you might do well to remove the A/C cover(s) and inspect for critter nests before your first trip of the year. Use an air compressor and/or water hose to clean the condenser coil which will improve the systems ability to extract the heat out of your Airstream when running.

Thanks guys. Really appreciate the input. Filters will get washed tomorrow morning and will try the fan on high.

Hopefully a final post. Cleaned/washed the filters and coils and bingo, ran well with no icing. We’ll have them professionally cleaned when we return home. For now we’re happy campers.
Thank you to all for your suggestions.
