AC Fins

I've got a '71 Overlander with a Coleman air conditioner. Recently, on a 4 day trip where the day time temp was a reasonable 92 degrees, the AC did relatively well, cooling about 15 degrees. I read somewhere that if your cooling 'fins' were smashed, it affected the efficiency. Today, I straightened my fins. Only about 10% of the fins were flattened. At what percentage do flattened fins affect efficiency? And, while we are talking about ac efficiency, how else would you clean your unit? Thanks!!
