AC fans won’t shut off

Just noticed this today. We’re at the beach so the AC will be blasting all day long just to keep up. Zero shade. After we woke up I set the both of our ACs to 75 since we were comfortable and wanted some time without listening to the AC running. I realized the bedroom fan was continuing to run so I turned the thermostat up to 80 and waited a few minutes. Nothing, still running. Fan on front and rear set to auto. The the thermostat said the interior temp was 74. I turned the AC off and the fan stopped. Turned it back on (still set to 80) and compressor and fan stayed off. Cranked it down to 70 and the AC kicked on. Back to 80 and the compressor went off but the fan stayed on. I’m guessing this is a thermostat issue?

2021 Globetrotter. Dometic low profile AC/heat pumps. Standard Dometic thermostat.

I had that happen once, but I had forgotten that I had set the fan to low speed on the Dometic thermostat. Even though the compressor cycled off, the fan was still running.

I think in my case (2022 23 GT) the Dometic thermostat controls for the fan and the A/C are independent. Maybe something to check.

If not, yeah, sounds odd, might be a faulty thermostat.

Just to clarify the above, the fans will only cycle if set to "auto". The run continuously if set to low, med, or high.

Fans are always set to auto. Now it seems to be stopping when the compressor shuts off.

Hi

The compressor cycle process is not always as obvious as it might be. There are points where it tries to "blow off" water (or ice .. yikes ...) from the external coils. On some versions, the indoor fans still run while it's doing this. It may appear that it has shut down while doing the blow off.

Yea, I was thinking that might be it. Seems to be working normally now. I know the heat pump at home will do that sometimes. But I thought only when running in heating mode.

I had the issue a few months ago. Reboot the thermostat control board or simply pop the cover (The latch is on the bottom) unplug the thermostat for a few min. Then plug it back in. That was the fix for mine. I had ordered a replacement that was delivered the next day so I have a back-up for later [emoji4] Keep a check on it if that does not work you may have to replace it. You can order one from, airstream, dometic or Amazon. Micro air makes a replacement as well.

I also have to reboot mine occasionally. Same problem, fans won't turn off.

Hi

If it's running hard *and* the humidity is high, you can have issues even in cooling mode. Also keep in mind that the controller can only *guess* that there is a problem. What looks like an issue based on its readings may or may not actually be a problem .....

Also had to reboot mine, it clears out problems; in fact the display for the furnace mode was garbled on mine, and after the reboot it set it back to FURN as it should be.
