AC drain clean

Both of the drains on my Dometic ACs were clogged. Had my dealer clear. This is a 2015 FC 28 with two ACs. Is there an easy way to keep these drain clear?

Hi

Park the trailer in the garage?

The lines plug up from dust and crud. It's highly variable in terms of where you store and use your trailer. The worst case is probably a dusty storage yard and dirt getting blown into an AC that is not in use.

It's a bit extreme, but the answer is to get up on the roof with a hose and spray out the unit. That's not anything *I* would do .... You might do some good with a hose from the ground. The issue is being able to see what's happening and stop before things overflow if there is a clog.

No choice; we have to store outside. Are covers available that help?

While it's in storage and you're not using the A/Cs, stick golf tees in both ends of the drain lines. That will keep the lines clear until you're ready to use the A/Cs again.

Or make a cylindrical cap out of screen wire with the end crimped shut that covers the end of the drain tube. Tie-wrap it on to keep bugs out of the bottom.

Install screen mesh on the inside of the A/C cover intakes to keep bugs and birds out of the other end of the drain.

Pain in the butt, but probably worth it.

AC drain clean

Good idea with golf Rees, but how do you plug upper drain? Seems like you’d have to remove shroud.

If you don't want to go that far, duct-tape some heavy-duty aluminum foil over the shroud openings.

Hi

There are places that make custom covers for just about anything out there. My guess is that they would be a real pain to put on and take off. Just as with a boat, they help, but are never a 100% solution. When the bugs decide to make a nest someplace nice and protected .... you have a problem.
