It sounds like maybe you can switch the wire on the start capacitor to reverse direction.

Eagleuh1, the guy who replaced your connections earlier didn’t do a very professional job at all, the engineering conventions haven’t been taken care of either. Being an engineer I firmly believe that such repair jobs are our worst nightmare. Please note that you’ll have to replace the capacitors and make sure they aren’t polar as mentioned above. Although you can tape the wires but using a paper tape would be best since it doesn’t affect the capacitors in the long run as much.
