A/C pan replacement

Going to replace the pan under my Dometic roof A/C unit on my 91 34ft Stream. Anyone out there have advice in this area? Does anything go between the pan and the roof of the trailer? Will be replacing the basic A/C gasket also at the same time, is any caucking required anywhere during this operation? Thanks--like to get this right the first time!!!!

I had to replace mine earlier in the year, nonetheless, I don't remember most of the details. What I do remember is.... when you take off the old pan, you will see where caulking and sealing is needed and you will find where the gaskets go. The trick is setting the unit on top the pan in the correct place on the first attempt. I recall I used (2) 2x4's on the roof of the trailer, one on the driver side and one on the passenger side, then I put two carrier 2x4's across them onto which I placed the A/C unit. By carefully positioning the A/C unit then pulling one of the carrier 2x4's I was able to position one end of the A/C unit. Then, I pulled out the other carrier 2x4, resting the A/C unit in the correct position with only a small bit of adjusting needed.

Should a sealer materal be used on A/C

From checking other threads, I believe the pan is sealed to the roof, then the gasket then the A/C. Have I got that right????

What happened to the pan to cause a replacement?

Airhouse, that is what I remember. The pan is sealed to the roof, then the gasket is what the A/C unit sits on. Problem is, the A/C unit still needs some sealing to augment the gasket. In other words, the gasket doesn't necessarily seal as well as you would like.

Hey---- Mike, To answer your question as to why I'm replacing the pan--last year I replaced the A/C gasket and found and repaired some cracks in the pan. Still leaked, so, now I'll go back up and replace both the pan and gasket. hope that get the rains staying OUTSIDE. !!!! Thanks for the help. We're trying

I read the referenced post above about not using sealants to augment the gasket, especially Lewster's comments. Had to laugh a bit. Mine either came from the factory with sealants helping the gasket seal or it was added by the previous owner. Sure looked factory to me.
