Angry A/C code E7...

2012 Cloud, FB with twin beds, etc...living in the Pacific NW, not much occasion to use the A/C on the west side of the Cascades. On our second trip to the East side of the Cascades its a bit warm here today and am attempting to use the air...it ran for a bit then shut off and is displaying code E7. Nothing in the owners materials indicate what this might mean...any thoughts??

Tried turning it off and letting it sit for an hour, but no luck...breakers are OK, all other functions in the trailer are fine...

Any input welcome as it will be a warm few days here just outside of Bend, OR.

Thanks in advance for your input!!

E7 is a loss of all 120V AC power. This is likely caused by a tripped breaker. Turn the A/C breaker in the converter box completely off and then back on. The Error Codes are in your thermostat manual.

For your convenience, here is a listing of the error codes for the Comfort Control II thermostat:

Error Code:
E1 Loss of communication between the CCC 2 thermostat and all system power module boards. System will shut down.
E1 Loss of communication between the CCC 2 thermostat and an individual system power module board. The LED will display error code EI and the zone number that lost communication. Any additional zones that loose communication will blink in addition to the current zone.
E2 Open circuit or out-of-range indoor temperature sensor. All heat , cool, and dehumidify operations will be locked out. Manual fan operation will continue.
E3 Shorted Indoor Temperature Sensor. All heat, cool, and dehumidify operation will be locked out. Manual fan operation will continue.
E4 Open circuit or out of range Outdoor Temperature Sensor (select models). Heat pump and dehumidification operation will be locked out. Air conditioner, furnace, heat strip and fan operation can continue to operate.
E5 Open circuit or out of range Freeze Sensor. Air conditioner and dehumidification operation will be locked out. Heat pump, furnace, heat strip and fan operation can continue to operate but displays the last temperature set-point.
E6 Open circuit Humidity Sensor (Select Models). Air conditioner and dehumidification will be locked out. Heat pump, furnace heat strip and fan can continue to operate.
E7 Loss of 120 VAC power to all power module boards on the system. The system will shut down.
E8 Invalid zone configuration. The heat pump and heat strip DIP switches are both set to the ON position in one zone. Heat pump, heat strip, air conditioner, and dehumidify operation will be locked out in the affected zone.
E9 Invalid zone configuration. The dehumidifier DIP switch and either the heat pump or heat strip DIP switches are set to the ON position in one zone. Heat pump, heat strip, air conditioner, and dehumidify operation will be locked out in the affected zone.

Sometimes a breaker will look like it is in the operating position but is actually tripped. Be sure to flip the breaker lever to 'OFF' and then back to "ON' with the corresponding click.

What are you plugged in to - check it. Sounds like loss of power to power outlet.

Try resetting the gfci breaker. If that oesn't work, you may well have a bad transfer switch.

You need to get an actual reading AT the breaker box. Remove the outer cover of the breaker box and using a multimeter, check between the 120VAC 30 amp line coming in to main breaker and neutral. It should read in the vicinity of 120VAC.

If it does not, then there is no power coming into your breaker box. As stated above, if you have a transfer switch, it might be bad. It is not difficult to bypass it, but it must be done with the shore power unplugged.

Hello
We have a 2012 FB and had the same problem this winter with the refrigerator. Found a wire in the cluster plug behind the refer was not always making contact. Pushed it in like the others and have had no problems since.
Hope your issue is something simple like ours was.

thanks for all the input...here's the update...
Pedestal power is OK...also tried both the front and rear plugs...power is available...
Breakers have been switched on/off...all appear to be OK both by touch and visually...
GFI, on the bathroom wall, is also OK...but dead...(our GFI failed right out of the box when the trailer was new and was replaced)
All AC outlets, in and out, and appliances are dead, including the microwave...
Will grab a voltmeter and check the incoming power....

Again thanks to everyone for all the input...very much appreciated!!

Enjoy the 4th!!

The final answer...back from the Airstream dealer here in Portland...all is well...after a new transfer switch was installed!! It had tripped and failed in the off position, killing the power supply in the trailer. If it had not tripped/failed but stayed in the on position, we may have never known. Don't know why it tripped in the first place but all is well with thanks to the Airstream warranty and a creative dealer in finding the part locally in minimal time! Learned a lot...especially here!! We had multiple inquiries and suggestions on the morning of the 4th!! Lesson learned...always travel with our portable solar system to support the battery and also always carry a 50' extension cord. With those two items we were able to continue our 6 day trip instead of coming home defeated in 2!
Thanks again for all the input!!

I know this is an old thread but we just got the E7 message too. The AC would start, then kick in for real cold air and in about 5 seconds would shut itself off. It would wait about 5 minutes and try again, same result. I checked the power pedestal where my Progressive Industries 30a protector is plugged in. No error messages there. I turned off and on the AC breaker in the trailer. Same result. Finally, since this thread talked about the possibility of a faulty transfer switch, I plugged the 30a cable from the pedestal in to the front of the trailer where the gennys usually plug in. The AC works fine now. So I'm assuming I actually do have a bad transfer switch which we'll take care of after the next couple weeks of anniversary vacation
