'68 Overlander Furnace Options

Hi All! New to the forums. We have a renovated 1968 AS Overlander, which we live/travel in full time. Our suburban furnace is the last remaining item that needs replaced in our Airstream, and I'm having trouble finding info/options. It's a model NT-22

My main questions are:
1. Is there a better option than replacing current model with another suburban furnace?
2. Does anyone know what I can expect as far as labor and space to fit a new furnace? Currently, it's housed under a custom built-in bench, so I'd love to avoid having to re-frame that area to fit the new furnace.

Thanks for any insight. We're in our mid-twenties and don't know a whole lot about mechanics/carpentry so I'm hoping I can find some good info to pass along to our contractor.

Suburban furnaces are still made and in very similar dimensions to the one you probably have. The 22 in NT 22 is the btuh rating in thousands, so you have a 22,000 btuh input furnace. The NT is the series.

Look at a site which has Suburban furnaces and see what the closest one is in physical size to the one you have. Check the location of the inlet/outlet which goes through the wall to the outside to be sure it is similar. You probably could go down in btuh rating with no issues, as small as an NT16. You do not need to go any larger but if an NT24 would fit, that would be OK.
