Micro-air offers an Airstream discount. If you put in AIRSTREAM in the discount code box, the unit is $274.

$274 is a great price. I paid $300 at a show for it.

Went to that web page and it says they are no longer selling this product.

You didn't have to pay shipping, but I did. Not much different when you add that in.

Any chance you're going to the ACI International Rally in Rock Springs in June? MicroAir usually has a vendor table that sells them and in past rallies, has installed them for free.

I have installed two of them, really simple work, as others mentioned 1 hour of work.
I wouldn’t pay $400 labor, but that’s me. If you don’t feel comfortable, what’s another $400 after spending 100k.
I wouldn’t care how much I spent on the trailer. 465 in labour for a 30 minute job should be a warning sign about the dealer.

That link states “No Longer Offerered”.

I’d rather install it myself… I have found that most “technicians” are UN-reliable as for following directions and using good techniques. They will use “twist-locks” and “Scotch-Loks” instead of properly crimped connectors. They will not take care when routing wiring…often allowing wires to rub or contact other parts. Etc Etc.

I KNOW the quality of the installation when I do it myself…and I don’t want the wasted time for sorry craftsmanship…OR the time wasted on a warranty-return/repair either.

AS dealers (as well as other vehicle dealers) typically mark up parts by 50% or more over what the part costs in retail (for example 2 <$1000 Battleborn batteries frequently quoted for > $3000).

So a ~$400 part could easily sell through a dealer for $600 and then 1 hour to install and you get to $800.

I'm not saying it's worth it, just explaining the rationale behind the price.

Other dealers charge 500 for the same job.

Last year we watched a guy installing his soft start from across the road at a rally. Took 3 guys basically 2 hours to get it installed and in the process they dropped the air conditioner cover to the ground, it wasn't seriously damaged but wasn't undamaged either. It was practically comical watching these guys climbing up the ladder, dropping things, running to get other tools and trying again, eventually the got it (2 margaritas on our end),

If you know what you are doing and aren't intimidated by being on the roof, perhaps you can get it done inexpensively. Bu, if you are relying on non-professional "DYI" guys, it can be a little more complicated.

$800 is likely the price the market bears. In other words, this price has been reinforced by other customers who paid it. You want it done there then make the $800 upgrade on your $100K trailer.

If you’re comfortable climbing onto the roof a couple of times, do it yourself. Lots of us moderately handy folks have. This 60+ year old sweaty body did it in the heat of a Texas summer so I could run it on a 20-amp circuit. Foresight is not a core competence.

Removed from sale

I was really intrigued by the SoftStartUp. I'm familiar with in-rush currents. The 30 amp product has been removed from sale and the 50 amp product isn't available yet (gotta love the supply chain problems).

At 50 amps might work with the house A/C and my 6500 watt Ian generator.

They stopped selling the 30 amp and are coming out with a 50amp. They said everyone wants the 50 and they are switching to that. It should be available in a couple of months.

They are switching production to a 50 amp model. They are sold out of the 30 amp.

Lewster, how do you install the easy start on the rear a/c on a 20223 globetrotter 27fb with factory 300w solar panels? I was able to install on front a/c but i cant figure out how to do the rear a/c. Marcus

MicroAir installed

We had microair installed 18 months ago at the mothership for $510 out the door. Current Microair online price is no higher than what we were charged. I think anything over $600 is excessive!

For $800, I'd drive down and install it.
