2016 FC 27: Where is Zone 2 AC Thermosensor?

Having some issues in getting the AC adjusted on our dual Air Conditioner 2016 Flying Cloud 27' FB.

We ordered it with the 50A service and two ACs.

When running Zone 1 only, all is well. A set temp of 72 F holds 72 F throughout the coach fairly well due to the ducted air. Zone 1 is controlled at the Dometic Thermostat, located by the street side bed under the TV in our unit.

Zone 2 is the 'back' of the coach. When I set the thermostat to control Zone 2, the temperature setting seems very high, relative to ambient. For example, I usually have to set Zone 2 to 80 F in order to maintain 72 in the coach.

Is this normal? It doesn't seem right that you have to set one Zone 8 degrees higher than the other.

Are there any 'setup' steps I'm missing from the Dometic thermostat manual? Where exactly is the remote 'Zone 2' thermosensor located in the back of the coach?

Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions. This is not a huge deal, but it is a little perplexing.

It sounds like either the sensor is not connected, is defective, or is in a spot that doesn't get any cool air. The sensor should be in the same area as the air conditioner, mounted on an interior wall.

on my unit zone 1 is in the rear and zone 2 is up front.

I looked around the front of the coach, and found this little white grille covered-unit on the bulkhead next to the TV.

Is this a remote sensor?

Hi Lando. Unfortunately, the recent 27 FB units (including ours) mount that zone 2 thermostat that you found on the same wall with the fridge, so the fridge internal workings heat up that wall and area. The worst part is that it is not a constant heat, because it varies with fridge use. So in our coach that zone measured temperature is between 4 and 8 degrees too warm. We tried pulling the sensor out of the wall by a few inches, and it didn't solve the problem. Right now, we are living with it. Joe

Hi Joe. Got it.

I put my remote Acurite sensor balanced on the left of the TV. It read 80F.

Sigh.

I guess as a retired EE, it kind of bugs me that this was the AS solution. But oh well.

my rear sensor was located over the tv. it made watching tv very chilly. i had enough slack to move mine.

Our 27 FB 2014 has the same issue...ambient is variable...depends on the orientation to the sun. I just check ambient on the thermostat and adjust accordingly.

I too had enough slack to pull mine away from the wall, so now its just sort of hanging in mid-air, but it is much more accurate. The airstream tech at my dealer said he got tired of suggesting to Airstream that they relocate the sensor. I was thinking maybe a mounting bezel could be made, but for now its just hanging.

We have a similar problem. Our rear sensor reads 94 deg while the front sensor reads 72 deg. I called JC and was told that the sensor on the 2016 26u is mounted on the wall by the tv. Never could find it. I will get a flashlight and look on the fridge wall behind the sliding curtain. If it's back there it is a dumb location. I would think (hope) they are smarter than that.
