2014 23' FB FC Heater question

Sorry up front, silly question here. I AM THE PROUD NEW OWNER OF A 23' FB FC.
When I turn the heater on by the thermostat it looks like the roof unit comes on too.
Can I just run the floor furnace on its own? If so, how?

Turn the FAN setting to "AUTO". On any other setting, the A/C fan will run continuously.

I just bought a much newer 2014 Airstream last week and having the same problem. The first night camping it got down in the 40s at night and I ran the furnace- was pretty quiet and worked well. The next night when I turned on the system it insisted on running the rooftop unit at same time. The rooftop unit is extremely loud- much louder than the one from my vintage 1970's trailer was.

I read the 2014 Dometic owners manual more than once and it still does not explain the auto and program functions that well.

On the second night I wandered outside and pulled the (AC) electricity cord to force it to use the furnace only.

Does anyone have an easy way to explain the auto/program functions- mine seems to have a mind of its own!
