If you like the stove and it's quality, maybe you could have a LPG technician check it
for safety and performance, then decide whether to replace/retain. Did that on my 1989 Excella and the unit checked out as almost brand new, so I kept it in place...

We installed the Dometic CU434 stove in both the 2014 Classic and the 2015 23D International Serenity. We also installed magnetic stainless steel side splash panels.

We retrofitted Vitrifrigo 12Vdc DanFoss freon compressor refrigerators in both trailers as well. As they are marine units, they both were slightly narrower than the ones they replaced and the one for Classic was enough shorter we made a custom storage space above it.

Good question. It's 2cm or about .75", around 8 feet long, minus the cutouts for the sink and oven. My guess is 110-120 pounds. We also have a dinette table in the same material, 46" by 32" and maybe 75 lbs. Far heavier than I would like, but hopefully I've balanced the layout well enough that it won't cause problems.

We'll use a Hensley Cub, so that should help also.

Installed my wife's new SMEV range oven. She's happy, so I'm happy![emoji7]

Why do all replacement ranges look so cheap?

How did you fill the gap without installing a new counter top surface? My understanding is that the new unit is slightly narrower than the old one (but I could be wrong). did this turn out to be a drop in replacement with no modifications to the cabinetry necessary?

Could you provide a photo top-down of the new stove?

I bought a new trailer and I have the same crummy stove from airstream now. I'm looking to also replace like I did on my other trailer.

Looks great!

Thank you kindly for the shout out! We have a 2016 27' FC FB that had the factory Atwood s/s bi-fold cover. Yes, the SMEV range requires a slightly smaller opening width and height wise, and deeper depth wise. Sadly no, it was not a drop in replacement without mods. SMEV also has an oven light and electronic ignition so I also had to wire 12 volt to my circuit breaker.

After removing the factory range and dry fitting the SMEV, I discovered the new range fits right in width wise, flush with the counter (it's designed to rest on top of the counter like the factory range). So to make the new range appear flush with my existing counter, I used furring strips underneath to keep range at the desired height. There are three screws on each side that I screwed through the furring strips into the cabinetry.

Here's some top view photos.

You can find my original posting for this project in airforums under "Frank&Mike 2016 27' Flying Cloud We Made Some Changes".

I have a detailed installation guide with photos that a member requested.

Glad to help out a fellow Airstreamer. It was a labor of love but always worth it. Good luck!

Much thanks! SMEV range oven has a 12 volt electronic ignition and an oven light. Lighting the burners is similar to a residential gas range. To light burners, push in and turn the knob to "light" and it clicks until it lights. To use oven, push in and turn oven knob to "light" and push a separate button to ignite. The oven has a setting up 450*[emoji91]The cook top glass lid raises up and creates a nice backsplash. SMEV claims the burners use 33% less gas while still providing high temperature cooking because of the efficiency of the JetFlow burners. Sadly we've only cooked one time using only one burner. We did notice the flame was more "jet-like" and cooked nicely. My wife is the chef so she would notice any deficiencies.[emoji848]So far so good!

Happy travels!

Thanks for the info - I was pretty sure it had different dimensions. You did a nice job fitting it in without replacing the counter top - something I'm considering for my 30'.

Here’s our SMEV installed during our total renovation of Gracie, a 1964 Overlander.

Looks great! You will be happy with it. Can you give any details about that heater in the lower left hand side of the pic? Thoughts on performance? Brand, power source? etc.

Absolutely [emoji2] the heater is the Platinum Cat and is a VENTED catalytic heater which uses less propane and a tiny bit of battery (12v) power. For more info see http://ventedcatheater.com/6.html

It works great so far. We had tent trailers before our Airstream and never got more than one (partial) night of heat before the battery died and the furnace shut down [emoji15][emoji22][emoji35] so I “just said no” to replacing the furnace. Used the money saved to buy this heater instead. It is vented to the exterior of the trailer so there is no need to leave windows open.

Arnie builds them to order, so you can choose a color too. Click image for larger version

Furrion Range

I think this range from Furrion looks nice:

Now, I just need a few of you to purchase it, install it, and let me know how it turns out.

I live in the UK and I was also looking to buy a Dometic Cooker for my caravan. Comming across this thread I hoped to get the same great deal you had but it looks like the link from the shop no longer work. A quick search on google revealed another chandlery not too far from where I live selling it also but the price is higher than the one you point out. Even so, I could not find a better price elsewhere. Am I being ripped off?

Anyone interested in helping me solve my Dometic CU-434 mystery, head over to this thread (linked below) and take a picture of your oven burner for me

I am reluctant to let gas flow through the burner any longer than that for fear gas build up.

The other turn burners work fine.

Do I need a new burner? Or do I just need to adjust the ignitor for a different spark?

Any advice is appreciated.
Fixed! The burner was just dirty... I took the cap off the burner, cleaned the area where the flames come out, and viola, works like a charm!

You might consider the Dometic Stainless Steel Range. Model number CU434 on the Dometic website under RV Cooking Range. Three burners with a LP oven, glass top for extra counter space when not in use, window in the oven door, and there is a light in the oven. I think it is a very handsome range with nice details to the design. My present range works perfectly well, however after seeing this one, I want to replace mine! (Wife will kill me dead!) If anyone has any experience swapping out ranges, I would love to hear from you! Mike
