That darn microwave / convection oven

I really like my 07 25' FB. The one thing that drives me crazy is the location of the microwave/convection oven. In order to read the digital readout i have to get on my knees to be able to decipher anything. The screen is only capable of being read when you are directly in front and at the same level. Help! somebody out there in the forum world must have been able to solve this problem. All ideas welcomed.

Thanks,

>>ron<<

Some digital read outs have a polarized lens on them so that they work indirect sunlight.
If you take polarized sun glasses and place them 90' or perpendicular to how you wear them over the digital readout and it goes black or no longer can read anything then you know that it has one...

If it does then you can take the steps to remove the outer polarized lens off. You may have to take it a part to make this step happen... but this is an option to your problem!

I had the same oven and got tired really quickly of that hands and knees thing. I removed the oven and mounted a microwave in the cabinet above the stove. Then we put a toaster oven in the lower space. The toaster oven doesn't have digital readout and is much easier to use, not to mention it cooks better too. You can also take it out and set it anywhere to use if you wish.

I don't like my micro/convection oven and wish I had a regular oven. I may switch it out. I rarely use a microwave at home and almost never camping. For now I solve the problem by grilling or eating out.

If anyone out there changed out their microwave/convection oven for a regular oven i sure would like to know how they did it.

Thanks,

We had it done at the factory. Expensive but worth it. I didn't like it either - not intuitive so every time it wanted to use it I had to drag out the instructions then get down on my hands and knees to use. Very happy with the oven.

We don't have a microwave now and find that to be fine. I just defrost and reheat as I did growing up - in foil or oven safe dish.

Interesting thread as I kind of wanted a convection oven but it was not available in the Cloud that I bought. Sounds like I dodged a bullet. The microwave I would not be without.

I think we have the same rear bed FC as you. The option on ours was a combination microwave/convection oven mounted over the fridge. Easier to use in that location. Also has a gas oven in the standard range.
