smoke and smell plastic burning when using microwave
First time tried to use microwave in my 1992 Excella AS. A lot smoke came out and it smelt plastic burning. what could be the issue? Thanks in advance.
It would be prudent to pull the microwave out and inspect it for problems. If nothing is apparent, plug it in and test it outside the cabinet where you can see where smoke or the burning smell might be coming from. I would replace it if there were any sign of problems. A microwave is not an expensive item.
Might be just burn in. Fairly simple to pull it out and take a look. I took it out of the AS, turned on the oven to 350 degrees, and let it run a while. It smelled a bit. Did the same a day later...less smell. Now, no smell. YMMV.
If the unit is defective, they are relatively inexpensive to replace.
