Replacing Atwood Stove with RecPro, 12v question?

We have decided to replace our OEM Atwood stove with a RecPro. After studying, the manuals for both stoves and getting some comments from others, it looks like the physical replacement is one-for-one: remove four screws, disconnect the gas line, slide the old stove out, slide the new stove in, reconnect the gas, replace the four screws, done.

The new stoves (RecPro, Furrion, Graystone, GE, etc.) need a 12v connection for the knob and oven lights. In the 27 FB Airstreams, the charger/converter/distribution box is next to the stove at the bottom of the pantry and microwave cabinet. So, I know where to find the 12v; at my feet when standing in front of the stove.

If you have installed one of these stoves, I would like to hear how you routed the wires and how and where you connected to the power. Photos would also be helpful.

Randy, I did this a couple of years ago. I have an older trailer so the Atwood came out and the Rec Pro went in but it was not as simply as you say. My opening was perfect when it came to the width. The height of the opening was much larger but that was an easy fix with the installation of a spacer board at the bottom. The depth was about a half an inch too large but, after reading on this forum, I found a flat metal "filler" on line. It matches the trim around the sides and works perfectly.

On my stove the gas line connected to the rear right and on the new stove it connects to the rear left. There was enough slack in the gas line where that was an easy fix although I had to get a 90˚ elbow. If you have a flaring tool, it is easy.
I found the electrical source at the back of the CO detector down low in the cabinet under the sink. I ran the wire into an existing group of wires up to the back of the stove and, that was it. We are really happy with the results. PM me if you have any other questions. I do have some photos somewhere.

Smile Stove Installed

Well, the old Atwood stove came out easily (six screws to remove instead of four, there were two below the oven door in addition to four at the top) and the new RecPro was easy to install.

12v power for the lights was easy to find as there was an empty spot on the distribution panel to the left of the stove. I had to buy a tubing bender because the Atwood gas connection was under the top at the front left of the stove, while the RecPro connection was at the back of the stove at the left top, so I had to do a 90° bend in the 3/8" copper tube to make the connection.

The only problem I encountered was that the Airstream cabinet face on the left of the stove was about 1/4" closer to the front of the countertop than the panel on the right. The stove is designed with a flashing that needs to be flush with the cabinet face on either side of the stove. I didn't want to dismantle the Airstream cabinetry, so to get both sides flush, the stove is canted slightly in the opening. You can see that the top trim sticks out a little further on the left than on the right. I'm glad it's on the left as it is hidden by the corner.

Pat wants to know if there is a way to get the yellow stickers off. They seem to be permanently affixed.

Thanks for the help,

Randy
