Rebuild a 1963 Princess 3 burner stove top

I think this is worth trying to rebuild. Wire brush the rust, splash some paint around …

But I would like to remove the stove top & check out the internal piping. Not sure there are obvious screws to remove the top. Pretty sure anything I try to unscrew will just snap off due to rust, (if I decide it’s still usable, may not hurt, to just start twisting & screws)

Has somebody done this & can point me to the necessary screws to remove, to lift off the top ?

Once I get in there, is there some kind of adapter I can use, to hook up a propane tank for testing ?

This Princess is definitely worth saving. They are great old stoves.

The stove top should be able to be opened/lifted. It is held in place with spring clips at the front corners and hinged at the rear. Once it is opened, you will have access to all the fasteners.

Everything should be held together with sheet metal screws and/or machine screws with square nuts. It all comes apart.

It's pretty straightforward once you get in there.

Well, a pleasant way to spend a rainy Saturday, but not sure there is much here, worth saving. I can see if parts are available for this one, but it looks like a total replacement to be safe.

Definitely a pleasant way to spend your time! I have re-done two of these stoves. The parts are robust, and the whole thing is very simple. Mine didn't look any better than yours when I started.

Clean it up and take it to an LP shop for an overall look-through. I am lucky down here in Amish country. There are lots of LP appliance repair and service shops.

If you do decide the whole thing is too far gone, please let me know. I could really use a correct set of burners for my one stove. Someone, at some point in the last 60 years, replaced the flame diverters and they aren't always very equitable in how the flame is distributed! Your burners look pretty good. I would be happy to purchase them from you.

But - all the better if you can get the whole thing working!
