Range exhaust fan exterior fan flap tabs

The tabs that secure the exterior exhaust fan flap for travel on my 2019 FC are woefully inadequate. They continually fall off when opening and closing them. Does anyone have a similar problem and if so, what is your solution?

mine are VERY stiff . they never budge at all
ask a dealer to bend the little tabs so that they are less likely to move

Ours failed on our last rig.
I used 2 pieces industrial sticky back velcro to hold the flap shut during travel on the 2 bottom corner edges.
Worked well and I had the gray color velcro so almost invisible.
Added an extra piece on the frame of the flap to "stick" the piece onto when the vent is open so that the top piece had a place to stick onto the frame so it didn't get lost.

I have a roll of Duct Tape for keeping the vent flap open when using and closed when moving. The tabs fell out while traveling in 2007.

Somewhere in Colorado. Duct Tape sealed the vent cover at West Wendover, Nevada when parked at a Casino Parking lot in 2008. Bought a replacement in Reno and it lasted until we sold the 2006 for Eight Years, put a Camco cover on and saved myself lots of Duct Tape.

So Duct Tape everything temporarily... or permanent.

Sharp razor. Small strip of Duct Tape holds it closed, and open. If the repair looks funky, I learned everything how to work on our Airstream from reading:

What Me... Worry? Alfred E. Neuman. He would have done the same.

Screen clips in the screen department at Ace hardware. Perfect replacement in aluminum.

I found a plastic wire hold-down clip in my junk drawer that was exactly the right size. I installed it will plastic screw, washer and nut from the hardware store (very tricky to get the screw on the back side).

I have also used a piece of tape when traveling. I use 3M stucco tape, not duct tape. It comes off cleanly and can be re-used several times. And DON'T use Nashua stucco tape--leave mucho gum behind.

I use a custom wooden model that has the nice feature of holding it open for more flow and closed in the rain.

Yep, except we use two shiny stainless steel clothespins LOL. You discovered as did we that the flow with the stainless vent is reduced pretty significantly vs the plastic vent since the flap is too heavy to open all the way on its own.
