Magic Chef Pilot Light Supply Tube
Anyone know where I can find a 1/8 propane supply line (feeds the propane up to the top of the pilot light) for a Magic Chef out of a 65 Caravel? My supply line broke off at the back of the stove (probably from too much vibration). The model is a 160 and I haven't had any luck finding any replacement parts for it. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Got any of the old mom and pop hardware stores around? Maybe an old appliance repair shop?
Did they ever rebuilt the KonTikki restaurant? That place was really cool!

Use 1/8" soft copper tube. Much stronger that the original aluminum and you can get it at any plumbing supply store. You may have to visit an appliance repair place to get the break-away fitting for the bottom end, but the upper end is just a ferrule and nut. At least this worked for a Majic Chef out of a '68 Avion camper! Darol

In what turned out to be a reasonable move, I replaced a similar line feeding the plilot light on my 1967 Bowen-Atwood water heater after one side of the line twisted off while removing it for another operation.
The only kit I could find, purchased at a local appliance parts house, contained enough plumbing to feed a pilot 36" away, and was really pricey ($30 or so). I think I was gouged a bit, but I have a soft spot for Mom & Pop operations.
More info available if needed.

It just got uglier!
OK...so I go to remove the other side of the propane supply tube that is running up to the pilot light...and the entire threaded post just snaps off the pilot light assembly....ARGHHHHHH! So...now I am looking for all of the items in the photo below. Anyone have any good resource for an entire pilot light assembly out of a 65 Magic Chef (Model 160)?

OH oh !
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that particular piece is obsolete. I did find one however, at an RV appliance shop. They have a decent inventory of NOS stuff. I don't think they have another one of those but you could give it a try. Here is the name of the place : Laurelhurst Heating and Cooling. They are located here in Portland, OR.
OR, you could go to an RV salvage yard and get a used one.
Keep looking you will find one someplace.

I'm also looking for gas lines for Magic Chef stove/oven. I need 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4". Originals are all aluminum tubing. I can't find anything but regular 1/4" copper tubing in Alaska. Any sources?

You might try Associated Appliance in Oklahoma City. I found a new thermostat for my 67 Magic chef oven a couple of years ago. Did not think I would. They are very good at there trade. Their # 405-525-2003.

Any luck yet?
I was just looking at this thread because my Magic chef model 880 is missing the same asembly. Just a couple of feeder tubes with broken couplers hanging off of them
If it helps, it use the be called the Pilot Assembly for a Harper 85 series Safety Control
You might be able to find someone to braze a new fitting on it.

Is there a part # on that thing?
Just wondering if anyone had the part number for that pilot unit, so we know if we found what were looking for.

I was able to find stove parts at this website
http://www.partselect.com
If you have a model number for the stove or a stove thats similar lots of the parts are interchangeable with most of the changes being cosmetic for the different model numbers in a series.
I needed the little pilot light tubes for a four burner unit
this link shows an oven rack for the stove in my 79.
http://www.partselect.com/xq/aspx/In...m?SourceCode=3
if you scroll down you see tons of model numbers that use this same part. you can see diagrams for the various models if you click on a model link, then you should reach a ton of parts for that model, the parts have diagrams you can check for a visual.
They seem more geared towards major home appliances but they had the parts I needed to get cooking again safely.
Hope this helps.
Yes, This was my first post!

universal kit
I found a universal aluminum supply line kit at a heating & airconditioning supply store - kit only had one 'breakoff' connector, but you can purchase the connectors separately Be sure to test for leaks - Jim J
