Before we put on our new stove top vent cover, our 68 Overlander came without one, we decided to pull out the range hood just to check it. The fan was burnt up. No wonder the vent cover was missing. The PO of course had no reasoning for why the vent cover was missing when we bought it. He probably had no idea it wasn't there when he bought it.
So we ventured up to our local RV Superstore, to again be looked at and talked to like we were idiots and fools to have purchased a vintage airstream. "They just don't make them there parts anymore...you will never find any parts to fit....I just don't know what to tell ya....blah blah blah.
We decided to take the fan out of one of the over head vents to replace the fan in the hood. We figured it would be easier to replace the vent fan then trying to find one that would fit in the range hood.
Anyone else tried this?
I'm getting so sick of smug RV guys who don't understand their potential customers' love of their '68 Overlander.
Yes, it's been done before, and very clever of you to figure this out. I had to be told in the forums. See this thread:
Vent fans
Now here's where it gets neat: Where you took that one out of the roof vent? Replace it with a Fantastic Fan for exellent ventilation. Er, that is if you can find someone competent to install it in your area.
Looking through the Grainger Catalogue now, thanks for the tip on the other threads. I know I should search the threads first. I'm just like my students, "tell me now Missus!"
since we are in the subject of vents, where can i get an exterior vent cover (the one with the louvers) that goes on the exterior of a '63 Safari? Please help!
