Ductless range hood?

I'm reno'ing a 25-foot 1977, and moving the stovetop (to opposite side).
How important is it that I move the external vent also?
Is a non-ducted range-hood sufficient? or do I really need the external vent?
fwiw: I live in Texas, where it's hot 9 months of the year.
thanks !

Hi

The main purpose of the hood is to get the combustion gases from the stovetop outside the trailer. A "inside only" version does not do this.

In addition to the good advice about combustion gases, consider the 9 hot months. A non-ducted hood would return all of the stove heat to the inside of the trailer plus the bit of heat from the motor driving the fan. Humidity, too, of course.

This will have the same effect. Cheaper and more versatile too!

Non-ducted range hoods are worthless. You really do need a range hood with an external outlet.

Venting the moisture is important, regardless of what type of cooker is being used. On a gas stove you've also got the combustion gases.

Not only important in the warmer months - camp in cooler weather and you'll see lots of condensation on the windows form quickly when cooking without the outside venting.

All that said, it's not vital that you have the wall-mounted exhaust fan to accomplish what needs to be done. On our vintage coach, we have a powerful roof vent pretty much over the stove which serves the same purpose. Works well, but the longer distance from the cooktop to the vent means that any grease-laden steam has more interior to dirty up before being pulled outside.

Welcome Aboard...👍

I also learned after putting on my very pretty stainless vent cover, that the fan worked much better if the moving air didn't have to hold the door open.

I configured a custom door holder to solve the problem
