Door came off my oven!

Jeepers! How do I put the door back on my oven? The door must have come open while towing. When I parked the door was attached by only one hinge. I managed to take it off the other hinge so that no further damage happened as I had to leave. The hinges are very strong, must be heavy springs that operate them, Now how do I reattach the door? Has this ever happened to any other Airstreamers? Thanks.

Our oven door came loose on our 2006 23 foot Safari. Probably in 2006. A large silver metal screw may have been the culprit. Did not fall off as the other side hung on. Because it did not I just figured out how the damn thing was attached with the other side intact.

It was discovered when opening, at the camp site.

A P.I.A. tinkering project, as well.

Since this was 13 years ago... I may have removed the plate on the front door, found the screw, figured out how to make the hinge cooperate and reattached the screw to the door. It happened while we were out in no where and it was considered Recreational activity indoors.

We used the oven to store paper towels and other light materials. The door never came off again. Obviously the screw was loose to begin with and you have to remove a bunch to get to it.

If you find the screw. Reattach the hinge. ...and remain coherent afterwards... let everyone know what you encountered.

Looking at the 'bright side'. There were TWO of us having the same issue, but possibly different ovens. I can now... sleep better tonight knowing I was not the 'chosen one' for this to happen. Welcome.

Hi, my oven door had one loose screw on the left hinge; It was difficult to tighten this screw partly because it was installed crooked. Holding the spring loaded hinge in place and trying to tighten the screw was hard to do. At home, I have a two foot long phillips screw driver which makes it easier to do. Now because the screw was installed crooked from the factory the screw hole was partially stripped and wasn't going to hold. I drilled another screw hole right above the hinge mounting plate and added a second screw which over lapped the plate. So far so good. I wanted to install a speed nut, or nut plate behind the sheet metal, but the only way to get one in there would be to remove the stove completely.

I also thought about drilling a 3/16" hole through the hinge and stove for a pop rivet. Right now it's holding so I will leave it alone until it fails again, if it ever does.
