Dometic CU-434 Issue
We have a 2016 International Serenity, 27', and in 2018 decided to upgrade our factory stove to the newly appearing Dometic CU 434 installed in the Classic models.
All went well for the first year until we noticed the front burner flame changing color from a clean blue to yellow which quickly spread throughout the burner flame set. When the burner was turned medium-low, we heard a "popping" sound and observed gas escaping from an apparent air vent below the main burners, lighting and then exploding in a pop of yellow flame. Within days, this problem intensified. When the flame was turned up a huge 6-8 inch high yellow mass of fire, emitting plumes of soot shot up, turning the underside of our pans black. This escalated into a fire hazard. At the same time, we noticed that when the oven was turned on, the front face plate of the stove housing the temperature controls would get so hot that we needed cloth insulation to manipulate them.
We drove to Jackson Center to have our stove replaced as it still had one year of warranty. Leaving with a replacement stove, we continued on our journeys, and now that a year has passed we are again experiencing the same popping, massive yellow flame ups as before, rendering the use of that primary burner impossible.
Here's the dilemma that you can assist us with solving: should we replace the stove a third time, wait another year for the same issue to recur, then every year get a new stove installed? Has anyone else seen or heard of these issues? This problem seems more than just coincidence.
We're looking into the Furrion stove as a possible replacement. The old, "Fool me once..." adage is in play.
