Cut the dickens out of my thumb on Stovetop lid

Was wondering if anyone else is having issues with the Stovetop Lid on my 2017 Flying Cloud? I cut myself several times in the past but it wasn't worth the mention. I had to go to hospital last night and 5 stitches later still have a thumb. That said - Any thoughts on making the edges less sharp? I know this is a silly question but I thought I would ask. Thank you all.

Is it stainless steel? If so, I'd be reaching for a fine-tooth metal file to start, followed by a pass with some 400 wet/dry sandpaper to create a slightly rounded edge.

Stovetop

We had this same issue on our 2024 Globetrotter stovetop. First trip my wife sliced her hand simply wiping the counter and she brushed up against the metal side trim and is was razor sharp. Already had a set appointment at JC and they could not get the unit to flush so they replaced it with a new one. Still sharp and I actually called manufacturer to see if perhaps they made a trim but they did not. I will most likely find a rubber trim piece to slip on the metal trim rails,

Yep that is what I was thinking too. Thanks. Sorry you had the same issue. I hope your wife is ok.

You might consider a bead of silicone around the entire sharp edge to cover the edge.

I second the above suggestion. Or some type of moleskin if the sharp edge isn’t going to be over the flame.

It is on the front edge of the stove lid so not close to the fires. The sides are nice and smooth, but the front is actually like a sharp knife edge. I don't know why they would leave it that way in the first place. I am thinking a piece of rubber tube cut halfway through so I can push onto the sharp edge and keep my hands from harm in the future. Thank you all for your ideas.

Used a Dremel to blunt the edges. That should have been done by the manufacturer. Probably no one has sued them yet.

I had a similar experience on my first day of a brand new Airstream ownership 10 years ago. While trying to adjust the dinette table on our 23’ FC I severely cut my index finger on a very sharp metal edge of the adjusting mechanism that was under the table and thus not visible AND was clearly cut with some tool during manufacture and not in the least sanded down to remove a razor sharp edge. Just one of dozens of poor quality control on Airstreams that I (and many others) have documented over the years.

I was in JC with my 2024.0 Globetrotter in June. They replaced the original Dometic(?) stovetop with the newer GE. The Dometic would not sit flush with the counter top. The techs mentioned they had another GT owner in recently who got cut on the Dometic.

The GE stovetop fit perfectly and sits flush. The edges of the GE are not sharp and are powder coated. The GE has a more substantial cook top grate but does not have a cover. There's a glass cover for the GE available through 3rd parties.

I’ve cut myself also

I complained about the sharp edges to the rep working at the Quartzite RV show in January 2023. Hoping they’ve fixed the problem by now. Just an extra step of about 30 seconds would do the trick.

i purchased some rubber trim that slips over the edge and sticks. It works and now I have plenty for next cut if that happens. Thank you for your note

Sharp Edge on Stove lid cover

We have a 2015 International 23'. We had the same issue with this very sharp edge on the stove lid cover. We used 100 grit wet or dry sandpaper to smooth the sharp edge, otherwise we too would have been pulling out the first aid kit, or visiting the ER.
